Newsletter June 2020

Site Update 

Concrete construction works The concrete frame construction to block A is complete. Brickwork façade construction works is ongoing and will be completed by August 2020. This will be followed by the removal of the perimeter scaffolding to block A. The internal finishes to the apartments in block A has commenced, with apartments due to be completed by January 2021. The concrete frame construction works to blocks B, C, D & E is now coming to an end and it is anticipated to be completed by mid-July. The waterproofing works to blocks A, B, C, D and E roofs will commence in early July. The perimeter scaffold construction to blocks B, C, D & E has begun and will be completed in July 2020. This will enable us to begin construction to the front of the buildings, which will be followed by the internal construction works.

Covid-19 Update

In March, to support countrywide efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, Telford Homes took the precautionary step of temporarily closing all operational sites and sales suites. This closure was a voluntary decision, with UK government advising that work on construction sites was permitted. On the 4 May, Telford began a phased and progressive re-opening of several construction sites following the implementation of new working practices based on the Construction Leadership Council’s new Site Operating  Procedures.

The Wallis Road, Stone Studios team have now returned to site, with a number of robust protective measures in place to help keep customers, employees, subcontractors and the community safe.

Newsletter November 2019

Concrete frame construction to block A is steadily progressing and should be completed to roof level by December 2019. Perimeter scaffolding for the construction of the block A brickwork façade will be erected during November 2019.

Bulk excavation of the basement for blocks B, C, D and E is complete.

 Air monitoring was paused on 4th September following the completion of basement excavations. Air monitoring recommenced on 18th November to coincide with the excavation works for the service corridor and installation of sheet piles.

Concrete construction works for blocks B, C, D and E foundations are complete. Concrete frame construction works from basement level to roof level has commenced, and we anticipate that these works will be ongoing until the end of February 2020.

The perimeter scaffold construction works to blocks B, C, D and E for the brickwork façade will begin in early December 2019.

Newsletter October 2019

Over the past six months Telford Homes have been working with Hackney Council, to fund the training
and resourcing of a School Crossing Patrol officer at the junction of Wallis Road and Berkshire Road.
Having completed his training, Justin is our new crossing patrol officer and will be on duty to help children and adults cross the junction safely at school pick up and drop off times during the week. As a local musician, Justin said “I am pleased to be working in the local area in a job that helps people. It also allows me the flexibility to continue with my music and creativity.”

As before, the Telford Homes traffic marshal will remain in place during operational hours at the site entrance to manage vehicles entering.

Newsletter September 2019

Bulk excavation of the basement for blocks B, C, D and E is complete, and consequently air monitoring will now be suspended until excavation works recommence for the service corridor area.


Concrete construction works for blocks B, C, D and E foundations are ongoing and should be completed in September 2019. This will be followed by concrete frame construction works from basement level to roof level. We anticipate that these works will be ongoing until the end of February 2020. The perimeter scaffold construction works
to blocks B, C, D and E for the brickwork façade will begin in early December 2019.

Newsletter August 2019

Basement excavation works are steadily progressing in line with the agreed revised remedial strategy. The excavation works for Block A are now complete. The next phase of excavating Blocks B, C, D and E
of the site is underway. We anticipate that the remaining excavation works will be complete by around the end of August. Construction of the concrete basement raft foundations in Block A has been completed and concrete raft foundations for blocks B, C, D and E is ongoing.

Newsletter July 2019

Telford Homes restarted construction works on 80-84 Wallis Road on 7th May 2019. Since then, bulk excavation works have been progressing well, in line with the remedial strategy. The excavation of Block A is complete, and bulk excavation of blocks B, C, D and E is underway. We anticipate that these works will be completed in 10 to 12 weeks. Our next step will be commencing concrete construction works. A crane will be erected on site on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st July.  A traffic management system is in place to ensure that the site is safe and disruption is minimal.

We have an air quality monitoring system in place, which ensures that odours and emissions are kept below safe thresholds. Air quality monitoring continues to take place with daily and weekly monitoring being uploaded to the website. We continue to be in conversation with Arup and LB Hackney, to ensure works stay in line with the remedial strategy.

Newsletter June 2019

Following the development of a revised remedial strategy, works recommenced on site on Tuesday 7th May 2019. We have an air quality monitoring system in place which ensures that odours and emissions are kept below safe thresholds. This threshold has been agreed by LLDC and their technical advisors (Arup), and advice was sought from
LB Hackney and Public Health England. We are also employing an odour suppressant, to minimise nuisance odours around the site boundary.

JOIN US FOR OUR DROP-IN SESSION - 2ND MAY 2019

29th April 2019

Ahead of the excavation works commencing, we are holding a drop-in session for neighbours on Thursday 2nd May at our Site Office in Wallis Road from 3.30pm until 6.30pm. Please come along if you have any questions about the remedial strategy, how we will be monitoring air quality, how we intend to mitigate odours and any other matters you may like to raise.

RESTART OF WORKS DELAYED ON SITE

5th April 2019

As you may know, excavation works were due to recommence on site on 8th April 2019. However, due a number of factors we are now unable to start on this date. In order to move forward, we are continuing to work with the LLDC, LB Hackney and Public Health England to inform our remedial strategy. Once this strategy is fully agreed we will inform the local community.
